4D Methodology

What sets Dynanet apart is the distinct effectiveness of our process and proven methodologies.

4D Methodology

Dynanet leverages its proven 4D methodology to address customer problems in four key phases while considering Governance, Human-Center Design (HCD), Security and Cost/Budget during each step. The integration of these core concepts into every phase of our methodology enables us to a deliver a final product that provides a holistic solution to the problem.

The methodology provides a structure for any client problem while offering the flexibility to tailor the approach based on customer requirements. The methodology allows us to iterate between phases and move among the four stages in a non-linear manner if needed to ensure a complete solution is produced at the end of the process.

DISCOVER  »  gather as much information as possible to start to design and execute a solution to address the customer problem– understand and define the WHY

DESIGN  »  identify what is needed to address the customer problem – organize the HOW

DEVELOP  »  build and test the designed solution– build the WHAT

DELIVER  »  deliver the product and measure impact– operationalize the product

Achieving digital transformation that delivers maximum impact and value to the mission, end-users, and IT operations requires a holistic view of business functions, strategy, process design, and technology enablement.

Our Enterprise Architecture (EA) approach includes both strategic and operational support for technology, applications, business processes, and methodology. We leverage EA practices and processes to define, guide, and enable digital transformation.

Through our EA approach, we place great focus on business and IT strategy, business architecture, IT architecture including technology & application/services architecture, and security architecture. Our goal is to ensure business and IT strategies, programs, systems/application/services coalesce and remain aligned over time to increase flexibility and adaptability in an ever-changing IT environment.

Our EA approach continues to be key to our delivery of our services including:

  • Business and IT strategies for Cloud Enablement, Zero Trust Architecture, IT modernization
  • As-is assessments of IT architecture, defining of to-be IT architecture and transition planning
  • Technology roadmap and pipeline development
  • Technology and architecture assessments
  • Implementation of architecture and infrastructure
  • Architecture frameworks and governance
  • Tool selection evaluation and selection
  • Emerging technology assessments and implementation
  • Development of system integrations
  • Integration with IT portfolio, acquisitions, CPIC, PPBE and lifecycle processes
  • Security architecture, integration, automation; DevSecOps

We intrinsically link our EA approach to the Dynanet 4D Methodology, ensuring that EA practices and processes are present within all phases of our engagements and tailored to enable all size and complexity transformations. By leveraging our HCD principles, we ensure that mission and business needs are always addressed and that the business drives technology enablement.

Enterprise Architecture

Human Center Design

At the core of our 4D methodology is the philosophy that people (customers, end-users and stakeholders) are at the center of everything we do. This methodology is guided by our Human Center Design (HCD) approach and principles and executed through use of Agile Methodologies.

At Dynanet, HCD is a philosophy we integrate into how to address and solve complex problems. We design products with the end user in mind and deliver desired outcomes. This enables us to design a solution with the end user in mind. We work with stakeholders at every level of the process to identify the biggest problem or challenge and then design a solution that will make tangible improvements.

We leverage HCD methods and tools at the planning stage of every engagement. We give every end user a voice from the very beginning, facilitating a continuous feedback loop, increasing buy-in, and accelerating adoption of the end product. Dynanet integrates an HCD philosophy at every stage of an initiative. This provides a holistic picture of the environment to accurately define the problems and helps us solve large and complex issues. We balance the input from stakeholders with mission objectives and business needs to evaluate the best solution for our customer. This requires us to integrate enterprise architecture, cost benefit analysis and governance to identify the feasibility of potential solutions and move forward with the ones that will be most successful.

Our 4D methodology integrates Agile methodologies and HCD principles to enable technology to solve problems and transform the customer experience. We use an agile approach within and across each phase of our process allowing us to iterate until we have identified and developed the best solution. Throughout the process, we keep people at the center of our discover, design, develop and deploy activities.

IT modernization needs vary across federal agencies due to their diverse IT environments and mission/business needs but ultimately the goal to support digital transformation and increase efficiency and effectiveness is a constant. We leverage our IT Modernization Decision Framework to 1) help our customers understand and define their modernization needs, 2) assess and determine the best path(s) for modernization, and 3) and define their implementation strategy and roadmap.

Our IT Modernization Decision Framework includes a customer-centric delivery approach, a business-centric view of modernization, and a cost-conscious selection and prioritization of modernization needs. Through our framework, we place great focus on people, process, and technology and allow mission and business needs to be the driving factor for successful IT modernization.

The use of our IT Modernization Decision Framework is key to our implementation of IT solutions. We leverage our framework as we engage in:

  • Improving, retiring, or replacing existing systems
  • Transitioning legacy systems to cloud or other platforms and technologies
  • Delivering emerging technology for business or digital transformation
  • Supporting cloud and technology enablement
  • Architecting or re-architecting systems
  • Assessing existing technology stacks and define new technology stacks

Our IT Modernization Decision Framework was developed through key linkages to our Dynanet 4D Methodology, Enterprise Architecture Approach, and HCD approach. By leveraging our framework, we ensure that informed decisions on what, why, when, and how to modernize are at the forefront of any IT modernization endeavor.
