Job Description/Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical lead for a small Scrum development team designing and developing APIs with cloud endpoints that integrate with IBM mainframes
  • Design cloud-based solutions for high throughput, availability, and security
  • Provide technical direction to developers and select appropriate design patterns, frameworks, code libraries, etc. for them to use
  • Build and demonstrate prototypes and other work completed during two-week sprints
  • Contribute to DevSecOps development activities
  • Participate in code reviews of software written by others
  • Learn, apply, and share knowledge of new tools and techniques
  • Identify and estimate development tasks required to implement user stories
  • Help the team resolve issues and accomplish sprint goals
  • Perform other development tasks as needed (e.g., reporting status, attending demos and retrospectives, clarifying user stories with Product Owners, refining product backlog, etc.) 

Required Skills

US Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • 10 + years of experience spanning at least two IT disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations
  • Three years designing/architecting large and complex solutions in the AWS cloud platform
  • Three years developing API applications in an agile software consulting or product development organization following software development lifecycles and product release/build processes
  • At least 2 years following Scrum or similar framework using these or similar tools:  RESTful APIs, Java EE, JavaScript, jQuery, Git, Jira, Confluence, Slack, Splunk, Docker, Jenkins, Terraform, JBoss/WildFly, Apache, Hibernate, Spring, JDBC, and AWS
  • Knowledge of all components of an technical architecture
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Proven ability to work effectively on a team, individually, and with end users to deliver solutions on time
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills with attention to detail

Desired Skills

  • AWS RDS, Lambda, and S3 
  • Working knowledge of Java OpenJDK 11, Amazon GovCloud, and AWS Aurora
  • Experience working with CMS or other federal agency
  • Experience with health insurance claim processing
  • Experience implementing software that complies with Section 508 standards for accessibility
  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or Information Technology related field
